Substitute Teaching

  • Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher at Lake Norman Charter! The job description for an LNC substitute teacher is available here. We will be holding our next sub orientation in early September. To submit your application, references, and survey responses for consideration, please follow the directions below to submit the following:

    1. Please return the Application for Employment (PDF) form by email attachment to jshook@lncharter.org.

    2. Please give the Reference Form for Substitute Teacher Candidates (PDF) OR the Reference Form for Substitute Teacher Candidates (Google Form) to three individuals whom you have known for at least two years and who can attest to your personal and/or professional character. Note there are two options for your reference to submit their responses:

      • PDF Directions: You may print the form out and give it as a paper copy, or you may download and save the form to your computer and email it to the individuals as an attachment. Ask the individuals to complete the form in its entirety and submit it by emailing it as an attachment to jshook@lncharter.org from their email account (I cannot accept references that come from the substitute candidate’s email address) OR by printing it to complete manually, snapping a photo of it, and emailing the photo to jshook@lncharter.org.

      • Google Form Directions: In lieu of the PDF reference form, your reference may find it easier to complete the questionnaire as a Google Form. Cut and paste this link (https://forms.gle/2urmXirbiSiHnhtJ8) and send it to them for them to record their responses digitally. They will know they successfully submitted the form because they will receive a copy of their responses at the email address they record.

    3. Finally, due to an overwhelming amount of interest, together with a large number of continuing active subs, LNC will be highly selective in offering invitations to join the Sub List this Fall. In the interest of expediting the application process, please complete the Substitute Survey (Google Form) of interview-style questions. 

    All PDF forms are fillable and may be completed digitally. Download and save the forms to your computer before opening and completing digitally, as this step should allow you to fill in a digital signature. If your form does not show the digital signature, try opening Adobe or Acrobat Reader first, then clicking “File > Open” to locate the file that way.

    Application for Employment and Substitute Survey must be received by Friday, August 22, and all 3 Reference Forms must be received in the manner described above by Friday, August 29.

    We will contact everyone the week of August 25-29 to let them know if they have been selected to move forward into Background Check and Fingerprinting toward being invited to attend Fall Sub Orientation.
